About the Event
Acting Technique Series w/ Elizabeth Daniels and Tori Khalil
This four week course will take students a journey from primary acting skills to character development all the way through script analysis and full performance.
For the first two weeks of class, Tori will lead students through exploratory acting exercises in order to better understand themselves, listen to their scene partners, and create their characters. The first class will focus on how to be a present, active, and imaginative actor no matter the script or genre by way of acting exercises, games, and improvisation. In the second class, students will receive their scripts and we will focus on character exploration and development using journaling and physicalization exercises.
In the second two weeks, Elizabeth will build upon the foundation Tori has laid. In our third class, we will take a deep dive into script analysis and learn how to use the clues the writer has given us to enhance our understanding of our character and the situation of our scene. The final week we will put our work on its feet and incorporate all of the elements we have learned over the course of the month to create a fully realized scene.

Elizabeth Daniels Nicholson is an actor, writer, singer, dancer, and puppeteer who has performed across the country and the globe in Off-Broadway, regional and touring productions of many genres. She is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, CAP21 program. Elizabeth envisions a world where people of every skin color, gender identity, body type, and background can see themselves represented onstage and onscreen in all of their truthful, complex glory. As Billie Jean King said, "You have to see it to be it." We're living in a time where this is starting to happen more, but we still have a long way to go. She endeavors to be a strong ally for those voices that have traditionally been given less power than hers and to be her own advocate when it comes participating in and promoting the type of work she wants to see. She is honored and thrilled to be part of this community of incredible artists at AMAW and looks forward to guiding her students towards a deeper understanding of and appreciation for all they have to offer.
Tori Khalil is an LA based actor, teacher, and yoga instructor. She specializes in on-camera acting technique, script analysis, audition prep, and character development. Certified with her 200HR Yoga Teacher Training, Tori additionally offers movement, breathwork, and relaxation technique.Â
