About the Event

Scene Study w/ Tori Khalil

Welcome to your weekly acting workout! I believe acting is more than just self-tapes and auditions done alone against a blue backdrop alone so I wanted to create a social class where you can deepen your acting skills while working with and learning from your peers.

Scene study will be a monthly 4-week course that is structured to take 1 scene a month from the audition phase, through development, all the way to performance ready. Each month we will explore a different genre and style of scene in order to be able to work with any material that gets thrown our way.

The first class of each month will be audition night in which the students will all practice auditioning with the given scene. The second class will focus on script analysis in order to better understand the rules of each genre as well as the sneaky clues that are hidden in the script. The third class will focus on exploring different acting techniques and exercises in order to expand our craft and get deeper into the emotional and physical life of the scene. The last class of each month will focus on performance, working with a scene partner, feedback, and self-reflection.

Students should be present for all four classes of the month as individual participation will be required in every class and potentially scene partnering as well.

I am so excited to host this class and hope to see you there. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to The Prep or myself.
