BEGINNING SONGWRITING w/ CARL PARISO: In this 5 week Beginner Songwriting Intensive, students will develop basic lyric and melodic writing techniques through the use of poetic writing, music theory, and ear training. Each week, students will be tasked to apply these techniques as they write and workshop their own song. This class will lay the groundwork to become a successful and professional songwriter.

Carl Pariso is a NYC based Actor/Musician/Composer. He has been playing guitar and songwriting for 15 years. He has fronted and written for bands that have opened up for The Click 5, Cobra Starship, and 3OH3. He has also played at music festivals such as Bamboozle, and Warped Tour. He studied Music Composition and Theatre Performance at The University of Delaware where he won the Gregory Andrew Paroulek Award in Outstanding Composition. In addition to guitar, he also plays and teaches bass(electric & upright), piano, voice, and drums. Carl regularly organizes cabarets in NYC of his original musical theatre work. In his latest credit, Carl played Cliff Bradshaw on the National Tour of Cabaret.

ADVANCED SONGWRITING w/ BOBBY CRONIN: Learn the advanced details of lyric writing, chord progressions, song structure, and character journey. Each week will focus on a different element of songwriting and you will be given weekly homework assignments. Each week you will present a piece of a song based on homework, culminating in a performance of your original song(s).

Bobby Cronin is a graduate of Yale University where he majored in Theatre Studies (with a focus on directing) & Music Theory and Composition. Bobby spent the first ten plus years of his career directing tours and productions all over the country. He is on faculty at the New York Film Academy Musical Theatre Conservatory in NYC where he teaches pop/rock performance and history, audition technique, business of theatre, and performance lab. Bobby recently headed the first Musical Theatre Summer Program at Harvard University. He also taught audition technique for students ranging from 10 to 45 as a guest artists at Broadway Dreams Foundation. as well as being a guest artist at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Illinois. He taught at Stoneham Theatre in Massachusetts and ran the musical theatre education program at Northern Stage in Vermont where he was Associate Artistic Director.
