About the Event

Join the cast of The Prep's FIRST EVER LIVE MUSICAL PRODUCTION: Means Girls Jr. 

OPEN CALL AUDITIONS FOR ACTORS AGES 7-18 (In Person): Friday, September 1st from 5-7pm

What To Prepare for Your Audition:

Please prepare a 32 bar cut-uptempo or ballad (whichever best showcases you). Please bring a track for your song. Select actors will be called back after the first round of auditions. Actors at callbacks will be assigned sides and a song from the show to perform.

CALLBACKS (In Person): Saturday, September 9th Time TBD

REHEARSALS (In Person):

September 11th - October 30th

Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8pm

Saturdays from 1-4pm

PERFORMANCES: Live at The Prep Blackbox (116 Oceanport Avenue Building #2, 2nd Floor, Little Silver, NJ 07739)

Saturday, November 4th at 2pm & 7pm

Sunday, November 5th at 2pm

Registration Fee: $850

**All actors MUST pay the registration fee in order to audition. Absolutely no refunds will be given. This registration fee includes all in person rehearsal time and physical copies of the script for each student. Also note, everyone who registers will be able to participate in the production, however not everyone will have a speaking role or a musical solo.**

Learn About Our Director, Matthew Corica:

For over a decade, Matt Corica has created innovative, boundary-pushing scholastic theatre with a commitment to the development of his students as young actors and young people. With experience in music, technical theatre, and Shakespeare, he works to build a program from year-to-year that challenges actors and audience alike with a variety of shows across the theatrical spectrum - plays from Caryl Churchill to Anton Chekhov to Mary Zimmerman; musicals from Cole Porter to Stephen Sondheim to David Yazbeck. As a director, Matt strives to create a positive and safe rehearsal environment with a commitment to the dignity of his actors, instilling a spirit of collaboration and shared responsibility that has become a hallmark of his programs. Matt holds a BA in Music with minor concentrations in Shakespeare and Dramatic Literature from The George Washington University; he lives in northern New Jersey with his wife and their two children.

Learn About Our Musical Director, Ketsia Poitevien

Ketsia Poitevien hails from New York City, New York. She has over 30 years of experience in musical theater. She has had the privilege of performing on Broadway in the hit musical Ragtime with Audrey McDonals, Brain Stokes Mitchell, and Marion Maizie to name a few.  She also toured the U.S with Ragtime where she had the opportunity to go on for the roles of Sarah and Sarah's friend. During her ten years span of working for Disney Theatricals, she performed in The Lion King as Nala, Sarabi, Shenzi.  She also covered all of the female singing roles. She performed in The Lion King in Germany, Australia, The West End, the Gazelle and Cheetah tours in the U.S. She also performed on Disney Cruise Lines "The Wonder" as the Circle of Life singer and as Nala.  She was blessed to have performed in the European tour of Fats Waller "Ain't Misbehavin".  She's performed as Lynn in Tintypes, Ronette in Little Shop of Horrors ,Sister Mary Hubert in Nunsense, and many more other shows. She has also performed her one woman show on Princess Cruise Lines.  Ketsia has a passion for teaching voice, acting, and performance.  She studied French Secondary education at Oklahoma State University. There she took courses in acting and musical theater. She studied voice with Professor Frank Ragsdale at Oklahoma City University.  She has taught children of all ages from 5 years old to young adults.  She loves focusing on vocal technique and getting her students to truly understand their vocal instrument. She has taught quite a few Broadway intensive courses with Bamboo Playhouse in Bali Indonesia.She continually teaches voice and acting with students all over the world.  Some of her students have even been accepted into performing arts schools and colleges in the U.S, Australia, and Singapore.  Ketsia truly feels blessed, honored, and humbled to be joining The Prep NJ for this exciting new journey they are embarking on.  Let's have fun!!!!
