Voiceover 101 w/ Sam Parker (Beginner/Intermediate)

Learn the fundamentals of character voice, grounded voice, commercial reads, and more!    

1. Character Voice- Learn how to create a unique and consistent voice based off of character drawings. Students will have an opportunity to create a voice and read a few lines at the end of the class.

2. Grounded Voice- These characters are more based in reality. Focus on personalization and physicality in this class.

3. Commercial Reads- Radio vs. TV reads. Comedic vs. grounded.

4. Putting it All Together- Students will be assigned a character and have them present in front of the class and put everything together: character voice, physicality and personalization.

Sam Parker is a New York City-based actor, educator, and improviser. He has extensive experience in coaching and acting with young artists of all ages. He holds a BFA in Musical Theater from Otterbein University (Westerville, OH). He completed an Internship with Tara Rubin Casting, where he was part of the team that cast the hit Broadway musical, “School of Rock.” He has lead numerous school-based acting workshops throughout New York City for The Shubert Foundation and served as an acting coach for iTheatrics at the Junior Theater Festival. Most recently, he stars as the lead character, Jason, in the South Korean children’s television show, “EggSchool.” Sam’s role involves acting, singing and dancing on set with child actors aged 8-13, including a few very talented students from The Prep!

Sam prides himself on his preparedness, patience, professionalism, and positivity. He is excited to instill these same qualities into a new generation of aspiring actors.
