Voiceover Masterclass w/ Sam Parker

Weeks 1 and 2 (7/9 and 7/16). Character voices- We will create unique and consistent animated voices through an exploration of vocal range. Students will have the opportunity to craft and perform voices based on character drawings and scripts I select for them.

Weeks 3 and 4 (7/23 and 7/30). Grounded voices- These characters, more based in reality, will be used to teach students core VO principles such as 'physicality' and 'dynamics.' Students will perform scripts I assign to them prior to the sessions.

Weeks 5 and 6 (8/6 and 8/13). Commercial reads- We'll study the differences between Radio and TV copy, discuss variation in tone between comedic and grounded scripts, and practice giving multiple, varied takes.

Weeks 7 and 8 (8/20 and 8/27). Putting it all together- In the days leading up to class, I will assign students an animated character and a piece of commercial copy for them to…
