Denzel Whitaker won Best Supporting Actor for his breakout performance in The Great Debaters, starring opposite Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker. He has built a dynamic career across film and television with roles in Training Day, Black Panther, Warrior, Cut Throat City, The Purge series, and Nickelodeon’s All That.

Whitaker spent five years at Cartoon Network contributing to cult favorites The Boondocks and Black Dynamite. His short film 5150, EP’d by David Oyelowo and starring Jovan Adepo, was a 2x Audience Award winner and selected for Tribeca’s 2020 Creators Market.

His latest film, Brand New, which he co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in, earned Best Actor honors, an Audience Award for Best International Short, and six nominations.
